British, Aged 53
Teaching for over 20 years at various educational institutions, including the United Nations.
Conversational, Phonics and linguistics English
The class is one on one so feel free to stop me at anytime to ask questions or tell me that you do not understand anything in the subject.
I want you speaking to me in English so a story in your own words is ideal and I may well during the lesson draw on life experiences. This makes interesting conversation critique and gives us a chance to know each other on a teacher student basis.
Effective teaching will teach at the pace you set;
adjust the lesson accordingly and answer any questions pertaining to changing the lesson plan to better suit your needs.
I will follow up with learning activities, small tests and quick fire conversations.
I shall try to use a mixture of approaches and learning styles;
Visual: reading or seeing (5-10% retention)
Auditory: listening 20-25% retention)
Verbalise: doing (70-75% retention)

General Background
After working in the Education Department of the local County Council for nine months, I started my career in electronics at the age of 18, with the Royal Air Force. After 12 years in the role, I left and joined IBM. At IBM, I was in turn a hardware engineer, a software support engineer and an MVS storage analyst. After becoming redundant from IBM in 1993, I became an IT contractor. In this role, I supported various operating systems on PCs in the UK, Nederlands and Germany, along with the associated application software. Whilst contracting in Germany, as well as performing my IT roles, I enjoyed teaching English to my German colleagues and friends. On leaving Germany, I returned to college to learn to teach English as a foreign language. I have also taken a course in Online Teaching. I am currently teaching general and business English to French students on the telephone.
Goals
After a working life of almost 50 years, I am now quite settled in my vocation as a teacher of English to speakers of other languages. I find this rewarding and just like to keep in contact with the world. I have no aspirations to higher levels but to impart my knowledge to those who want to learn.
Hello! My name is Roumen. I am Bulgarian. I have lived and worked in Ireland, England, Spain and Russia. I speak some Russian and this helps me and my Russian students in the classes. I have been teaching foreign languages since 2000 and I have gained considerable experience in that. I enjoy teaching and talking with the students on a number of mutually interesting subjects. In my classes besides teaching the respective grammatical material my approach focuses on creating a positive motivation in the students by means of interactive friendly communication with them and total immersion in the foreign language. I take into account the students’ specific personal traits. I make sure that they understand the relevance of their own efforts for achieving their personal objectives. My experience has shown that this approach maximizes the students' achievements regardless of their individual linguistic aptitudes.
Working with you to improve and develop your English will be pleasant and interesting.
So I look forward to hearing from you.

learning how to preserve the world for the future generations. So far
i have visited/lived in 20 countries in four continents - Africa,
Europe, Asia, and North America. I have been teaching English for

something magical about passing the knowledge to the other person and
see them grow and apply the knowledge in their own lives. Every person

Discovering individual learning plans for every student is a hobby of

unique and always fascinating.
Einstein pretty accurately summed up my approach to life and teaching
when he said:
"The important thing is not to stop questioning. Curiosity has its own
reason for existing. One cannot help but be in awe when he
contemplates the mysteries of eternity, of life, of the marvelous
structure of reality. It is enough if one tries merely to comprehend a
little of this mystery every day. Never lose a holy curiosity"
Albert Einstein
